Launched chip R&D operations back in 1996, ZTE Microelectronics ranks among China’s earliest IC design enterprises with over 8,000 patent filings. It has independently developed and mass-produced full sets of chips for 5G baseband, intermediate frequency and transport network equipment. The company has expanded into emerging sectors recently, supplying self-developed Dinghai-series computing DPUs and automotive-grade MCUs to top domestic vehicle manufacturers to diversify its product lineup beyond communication chips.

Industry analysts state the new wholly-owned Nanjing design subsidiary will focus on R&D for 5G-A & 6G next-gen communication chips, iterative computing DPU chips and automotive-grade semiconductors, shortening the cycle from technical development to mass production. Leveraging Nanjing’s mature local wafer fabrication and packaging & testing industrial chain, the regional layout speeds up technology commercialization and product conversion.

The global ICT industry is integrating networks, computing power and end devices, where high-performance integrated chips determine core equipment competitiveness. ZTE’s regional chip R&D system strengthens hardware-software collaboration and boosts its end-to-end solution advantages, laying solid hardware foundations for long-term technical upgrades. ZTE Corporation has not yet released detailed business blueprints for Nanjing Kris Semiconductor.

ZTE expands its self-developed chip footprint via the new Nanjing subsidiary, which coordinates R&D for communication, computing and automotive chips. Local industrial chain resources will accelerate the commercial launch of its semiconductor products.
